In our Unitarian Universalist tradition, we often choose to have a Celebration of Life service instead of a formal funeral. The event is often held sometime after the passing of the beloved, allowing time for the grief process and arrangements to gather family members on a suitable date.
Our UUSO Caring Circle Team along with a minister often coordinates Celebration of Life services in cooperation with the family. We have found that family members struggle with details of the service they think would have been meaningful to the departed, such as favorite hymns, readings and speakers. To support your families, we have created a form that UUSO members and friends can use to specify their wishes for the service. The form can be completed online here or printed and filled out by hand and given to the Office Administrator. The form will be confidentially filed in the church records until needed.
