The Unitarian Universalist Society of Oneonta Endowment Fund is funded by those members and friends who want to provide a permanent source of money for the Society’s work. The Endowment Fund was created to fund both UUSO activities that are not normally part of the operating budget and community activities that are consistent with the principles of Unitarian Universalism.
The Endowment Committee is charged with stewardship of the Endowment Fund, including both the raising and the disbursement of funds. The Committee works independently but abides by the UUSO Society bylaws. There are Policies and Procedures that the Committee uses for administering the Fund and for raising and disbursing money from the Fund. The fiscal year for the Endowment Fund runs from July 1st to June 30th each year.
Because endowments are intended to permanently fund activities, the Endowment Committee is a careful steward of the Fund, disbursing only a small portion of the Endowment in any one year. Each year in October-November, grants are made to causes both within the Society and in the wider community.
